Verified Views (AVR)
Accurate Visual Representations (AVR) are the gold standard for submitting visual evidence in the UK planning system. Akuarium provides fully verifiable imagery that aligns with the Landscape Institute's GLVIA3 guidelines.
We combine high-resolution site photography (50mm fixed lens) with precision GPS survey data to create a "virtual camera" that matches reality perfectly.
Technical Classification
The 4 Types of AVR
We classify our visuals according to the level of detail required by your local planning authority:
AVR Type 1: Wireline
A simple outline of the proposed building's mass. Used to establish scale and sightlines without discussing materials.
AVR Type 2: Rendering
The building is rendered as a simple block (white card model) but lit correctly. Useful for analyzing shadowing and form.
AVR Type 3: Photoreal
The standard for most applications. A fully textured, photorealistic render of the proposal placed into the photo.
AVR Type 4: Full Context
The highest level of detail, simulating seasonal changes, lighting conditions, and mature landscaping.
Why Akuarium?
Defensible Data.
In a planning appeal, a pretty picture is not enough. Our workflow logs every data point—from the time of day the photo was taken to the exact coordinates of the tripod. This creates a transparent audit trail that stands up to scrutiny from planning officers and heritage consultants.
